Oceanside has always held a special place in my heart. When we were stationed at Camp Pendleton, we fell in love with this vibrant coastal town—the laid-back beach vibes, incredible food, and that perfect mix of old-school surf culture with new, exciting energy. Now, living just two hours north in Los Angeles, Oceanside has become our go-to staycation spot, and on our latest visit, we found the perfect place to stay: The Brick Hotel.
Charming, Convenient, and a Little Bit Quirky
The Brick Hotel isn’t your typical beachfront hotel, and that’s exactly what makes it special. This boutique hotel is self-check-in, which means no front desk—but don’t let that fool you. The staff is incredibly attentive, responding quickly via email, phone, or text. Checking in was a breeze, and the hotel’s digital key system made everything seamless.
The rooms are cute, clean, and cozy, with just the right mix of modern design and historic charm (as the name suggests, the building itself has a cool brick facade). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem—small enough to feel intimate but stylish enough to feel like a treat.
Food & Drinks Right at Your Doorstep
One of the best things about The Brick Hotel? You don’t have to go far for a great cocktail or bite to eat.
• The Lobby Tiki Bar & Grill (on the first floor) is perfect for grabbing a tropical drink before heading out to explore.
• Coco Cabana (on the rooftop) serves up delicious bites and cocktails with a killer view. Sunset drinks up here? Absolutely worth it.
Steps Away from the Best of Oceanside
Location-wise, The Brick Hotel couldn’t be better. It’s just a short walk from the beach and the iconic Oceanside Pier, which means morning strolls by the ocean and sunset views are basically built into your stay.
And the food scene? Top-notch. We made sure to stop by two of our longtime favorites:
• Harney Sushi – If you go (which you should), sit at the bar and ask for Megan or Angelo. They’ll take great care of you, and you’ll get the best sushi experience.
• Sancho’s Tacos – Perfect for a casual, delicious bite. Their tacos never disappoint.
The Perfect SoCal Getaway
Oceanside has that welcoming, unpretentious charm that made us fall in love with it in the first place. Whether you’re planning a quick getaway from LA or just looking for a fresh way to experience SoCal’s coastline, The Brick Hotel is a fantastic choice—charming, convenient, and right in the heart of all the action.
Can’t wait for the next trip!
