Disneyland’s 90s Nite: A Nostalgic Blast from the Past!

For the first time since the pandemic, Disney brought back fan favorite, 90’s Nite! I didn’t get the opportunity to attend before so I was not going to miss it this time around. As soon as I stepped through the gates of Disneyland for 90s Nite, I knew I was in for an epic throwback. Upon entry, we were created with retro fanny packs as the air buzzed with nostalgia and the unmistakable beats of the decade’s best music. Everywhere I turned, guests were decked out in creative throwback ensembles: denim overalls, windbreakers, and Disney-inspired 90s fashion that made me feel like I’d stepped into a time machine.

But the real highlight for me? Goofy and Max performing as Powerline! As a lifelong Goofy fan, seeing them rock out to Stand Out and I2I was everything. The energy and the crowd singing along made it felt like a scene straight out of A Goofy Movie! I may or may not have been dancing right along with them (spoiler: I absolutely was).

And it wasn’t just Powerline stealing the show! Classic 90’s Disney characters made special appearances, bringing back memories of afternoons spent glued to the TV. Seeing Darkwing Duck and Launchpad McQuack in person? Pure magic.

Of course, the night wouldn’t have been complete without a playlist full of 90s hits echoing through the park. From boy band anthems to 90’s R&B , every corner of Disneyland felt like a middle school dance in the best way possible.

We capped the night with the ultimate dose of nostalgia at the he 90’s Cavalcade. As the parade rolled through, I couldn’t help but dance along with like Mulan, Megara, and Hades as they made their grand appearances. Seeing them up close, alongside other beloved 90’s Disney icons, was a perfect way to close out the night!

Walking down Main Street afterward, surrounded 90’s kids turned Disney adults reliving their best Disney memories, I couldn’t stop smiling. Disneyland’s 90s Nite wasn’t just a party- it was a portal back to a time when life was a little simpler, Disney Channel Original Movies ruled, and Powerline was the coolest rock star we knew.

90s Nite is a two-night event that sold out fast! If you were lucky enough to snag tickets for the final night tomorrow, I highly recommend arriving early. We got there at 4 PM to park and grab a quick bite and drink at Hearthstone, where the real highlight was meeting Khleo Thomas, rocking an incredible custom Powerline costume.

While the event officially kicks off at 9 PM, ticket holders can enter the park as early as 6 PM. This gave us plenty of time to hit all the rides we wanted before diving into rare character interactions, performances, and photo ops. (Tip from the Disney website: “To reduce time waiting in line, select Character experiences may require Guests to check in for a wristband and return at a designated time.”)

Despite a few things I wish I had known beforehand, 90s Nite was everything I could have hoped for and more. It reminded me why Disney nostalgia hits so hard- the magic never really fades, it just evolves with us. I may have thought I was too cool for Disney as a teenager, but standing there, surrounded by fellow 90s kids singing along to I2I, it felt exactly right.

Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Did you make it to 90s Nite? What were your favorite moments? Let’s reminisce in the comments!
