First-Class Finale: HND to LAX in United’s Polaris Cabin

After a whirlwind week of sightseeing, indulging in incredible food, and soaking in the vibrant culture of Japan, I decided to end my trip on a high note by upgrading to a United Polaris lie-flat seat for my flight home to Los Angeles. And let me tell you, it was worth every penny.

Why I Chose the Upgrade

I love exploring new places, and Japan was no exception. From wandering the historic streets of Asakusa to indulging in incredible meals like the shabu shabu feather enjoyed at Chirri in Kyoto, my days were packed with adventure. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from traveling, it’s that a long-haul flight home can either be the final cherry on top or a struggle to endure. After a week of go-go-go, I knew I wanted to treat myself to a little extra comfort. Enter: Polaris.

The Polaris Experience

As soon as I stepped into the Polaris cabin, I knew I had made the right decision. The sleek, modern design and spacious layout immediately set the tone for a more relaxing journey. But the real game-changer? The lie-flat seat which meant I could stretch out, get comfortable, and actually rest instead of trying to contort myself into an impossible sleeping position.

Food & Service: A Step Above

One of the highlights of flying Polaris was the elevated dining experience. The multi-course meal was delicious and thoughtfully curated- far from the standard airplane fare. I sipped on a glass of champagne, enjoyed a well-prepared main course, and even treated myself to dessert (because why not?).

The service was attentive but never intrusive, making the whole experience feel seamless and stress-free. The flight attendants made sure I had everything I needed, from cozy bedding to a perfectly timed coffee refill.

The Ultimate Restful Journey Home

The best part? I actually slept. I drifted off in my lie-flat seat, wrapped in soft Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, and woke up feeling refreshed instead of groggy. By the time we landed at LAX, I wasn’t dreading the post-flight exhaustion. Instead, I felt ready to ease back into reality.

Final Thoughts

Upgrading to Polaris was the perfect way to end my Japan trip on a luxurious note. After days of non-stop exploring, having a comfortable, restful, and enjoyable flight home made all the difference. If you’re considering splurging on a Polaris seat for a long-haul flight, I’d say go for it! It’s an indulgence that’s truly worth it.
