This year, Easter Sunday in New York City felt like a gift wrapped in sunshine. After a long stretch of winter’s chill, the city finally opened its arms to spring, and we were lucky enough to be there to bask in all its glory.
We started our day at our hotel near Times Square and decided to take the scenic route to Central Park on foot. The morning was already warm, with temperatures gently climbing toward 70°—some of the best weather the city’s seen in months. Along the way, we made a spontaneous stop by St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where the Easter Bonnet Parade was in full swing. It was pure New York: joyful, eccentric, and completely fabulous. We marveled at the parade of whimsical, towering, and wildly creative bonnets that turned Fifth Avenue into a catwalk of springtime imagination. My grandchildren were especially charmed by the colorful costumes and oversized bunny ears.
From there, we wandered down to Central Park, where spring had fully settled in. Trees were in bloom, daffodils nodded in the breeze, and the energy in the park felt light and joyful. The kids ran ahead, excited for their egg hunt, while we strolled at a slower pace, soaking in the sights and sounds of a city in bloom.
Watching my grandchildren laugh and dart through the grass with their baskets, while my daughter and her husband beamed nearby, was the kind of simple magic that makes a day unforgettable. There’s something truly special about experiencing New York through a child’s eyes—every flower, every breeze, every pastel egg tucked under a bush felt like a treasure.
It wasn’t a day filled with big plans or elaborate meals, just fresh air, family, and that unmistakable buzz of the city shaking off winter. And really, that was more than enough.
Easter in Central Park with my loved ones—what a perfect way to welcome spring!
