Before saying goodbye to New York, I decided to squeeze in one last adventure—this time, at the airport. I booked a 4-hour day stay at the TWA Hotel, tucked right into Terminal 5 of JFK, and let me tell you… it was the perfect cherry on top of my NYC trip.
Walking into the TWA Hotel felt like stepping straight into the golden age of air travel. Think Mad Men energy meets modern comfort. Every corner is a love letter to the late 1950s, and the attention to detail is chef’s kiss. From the mod architecture to the vintage uniforms worn by staff, the whole vibe is effortlessly cool and a total time warp in the best way.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious and incredibly comfortable—perfect for catching some rest between flights or freshening up before takeoff. I had just enough time to recharge, slip into something cozy, and feel human again before boarding.
And then came the real treat: Connie, a vintage Lockheed Constellation airplane turned cocktail lounge, parked right on the tarmac. Yes, you read that right. We sipped Prosecco in a plane that hasn’t flown since the ’60s, and it was as fabulous as it sounds.
Everywhere you turn, there’s a retro-inspired photo op just waiting for its moment on your camera roll—great for kids, adults, and content creators alike. And if you’re the type to sneak in a workout before a red-eye, they’ve got a full gym and even a rooftop pool (with runway views!) to keep your routine going strong.
When it was time to head out, I was just steps away from the AirTrain and one stop from my terminal. Chic, seamless, and stress-free—just how travel should be.
So if you’re flying through JFK and want to turn a layover into a vibe, the TWA Hotel is your spot. Trust me, it’s not just a place to rest—it’s a whole experience. See you in the skies, NYC. Next stop: LA!
